Advanced Judo Techniques
Series Summary
Judo has an interesting history. During the 1880's in Japan, a
little boy was picked on by his fellow students. Dr. Jogoro Kano,
as he was later to be known, decided that something must be
done. He began martial arts training to fend off these bullies,
yet found most of the moves he learned just got him beat up even
more. His fellow students where much bigger than Jogoro and
simply overpowered him. Determined to be able to defend himself,
he invented his own type of martial arts, one which uses an
opponent's size and strength against them. Applying his new judo
techniques, Jogoro was able to defeat these big bullies with a
variety of throws, rolls and holds which turn an attacker's
momentum into the defender's advantage. What better way to
create a new form of martial arts? Even though Jogoro invented
this type of martial arts for his own protection, thousands of
followers have adapted his form of fighting. Currently, there
are lovers of the Judo martial art from all over the world.
