Javier Bardem is an Academy Award winning Spanish actor who
became an international star after appearing in Julian
Schnabel's 2000 film, Before Night Falls. His performance as
the Cuban poet, Reinaldo Arenas, in this film earned Bardem a
Best Actor Oscar nomination, which was the first time a
Spanish actor had ever been nominated.
In 2002, Bardem starred in John Malkovich's film, The Dancer
Upstairs as "Agustin Rejas". In 2004, he won a Best Actor
Award at the Venice Film Festival for his portayal of Ramon
Sampedro, an activist fighting for the right to assisted
suicide, in the film The Sea Inside.
In 2007, starred in two films, Love in the Time of Cholera and
No Country for Old Men. His performance as the cold blooded
killer, "Anton Chigurh" in The Coen Brothers No Country, won
Bardem a Best Supporting Actor Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe and
Sag Award.
In 2008 Bardem starred in the Woody Allen film, Vicky Cristina
Barcelona, alongside Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz.
